Nearly round leaves are heart-shaped and have dentate margins. Waxy-yellow buttercup-like flowers are produced in early spring. Usually grows 1-1.5 ft. in shallow water up to 4 - 5 in. deep or in soggy soil around the pond or stream. Is notorious for going dormant during the summer when placed in full sun in hot summers When in a shady areas or shaded by other plants as they grow it will flourish.
